How you use your Clover device and which Clover plan you are in affect your billing. Below are answers to common device billing questions.

How is my monthly device service fee determined?

Your monthly device service fees are based on several factors:

  • which service plan you are enrolled in
  • how many devices you own, and
  • the operating status of your device.

All Clover Stations are billed according to your merchant contract.

Clover MiniClover Mobileand Clover Flex devices are billed based on the service plan you are in:

  • Payments Plus – Free
  • Register Lite – $9.95*/month per device in merchant facing state
  • Register – $29.95*/month per order-taking device *
  • Classic – $29.95*/month per order-taking device *

*Fees may be waived if your Clover devices are not used for taking orders (i.e. is a customer-facing device).  A device that does not take orders can still be used as a customer facing device when tethering. Fees apply when Clover devices are in a merchant-facing state.

All Clover devices associated with a Clover Station account default to Classic Plan and cannot be changed.

How do I change my device service plan?

You can change your service plan on your device by going to App Market app > Billing > Plan Charges.  See more details.

Is there a plan that does not charge fees?

Yes, Payment Plus is available at no additional cost.

NOTE

If your Clover Mini or Flex is not used for taking orders but you are being charged for it, (i.e., a merchant-facing device), you have the option to change the device to a customer-facing state to avoid monthly software fees.

 

How do I change my device status to enable orders on my device?

 

To change your device status to order-creation mode, change your Setup app > Devices and select I create orders on this device. Enabling this status means:

  • monthly fees for this device will start accruing
  • apps such as RegisterTablesOrders, and Customer apps will be enabled

Are fees prorated?

Yes.

  • If you change the device status to order-creation mode, fees will be prorated for the time your device is in this mode. Your next month’s bill will reflect the change in status.
  • If you change plans (example: Register to Register Lite) you will receive a proration that reflects this change in your next month’s bill.

Monthly fees are taken directly from your associated merchant bank account.

 

Am I being charged for each device?

Yes, each device is charged. Fees vary depending on which plan your merchant account is in and device usage status.

 

How can I tell what status my devices are in?

Only Clover Mini and Clover Flex devices are capable of switching status. The fastest method for determining your device status is by observing whether the RegisterTablesOrders, and Customer apps are grayed out on the home screen. If these apps are grayed out, the device is not being used for creating orders and device fees are being waived. If these apps are not grayed out, the device can be used for creating orders and your account is being billed.

 

You can also verify the device status by navigating to Setup > Devices “This Device”  and view which radio button is selected.
